“I constantly forget my stamp cards and have started way too many new ones!”

For our final project at Supercode Bootcamp, our group created Stompy, a concept we came up with together. The first two weeks were all about the Design Thinking UX phase and running low-fidelity user tests with people from the course and our personal circles. After the survey, we created a persona based on the most popular results that match our app’s target audience and used it in the user flow. Hannah is 29, lives in Cologne, and loves eating at small, local restaurants or cafés several times a week. She’s tech-savvy and often uses apps to find discounts, deals, and coupons.

Loss, wear and tear, chaos caused by disorganization, and an overstuffed wallet lead to frustration and highlight unmet user needs – these are exactly the issues we have thoroughly addressed in the UX field.

We conducted UX research with 53 participants aged 18 to 45 to explore the demand for a loyalty program and its potential to influence purchasing behavior. The most desired categories—gastronomy, culture, leisure, sports, and shopping—were prioritized using a color-coding system. For our app, we combined leisure, sports, and culture and split gastronomy into food, bars, and cafés.

After comparing competitors and conducting user research, we decided to design a digital all-in-one solution to replace traditional stamp cards. This solution aims to address all user pain points identified during our research and provide a seamless, user-friendly experience that helped us to define our product’s unique selling proposition (USP).

In week three, we shared mood boards and stylescapes. I quickly realized everyone was into neobrutalism. I took charge of the corporate design and branding, including the logo design,

The logomark reflects an urban, youthful vibe with maze-like possibilities and a stamp-inspired aesthetic. The color palette was modern and trendy, used consistently across the app, including the card view. I also pitched features like the stamp exchange and its animations. On top of that, I helped with the presentation and storytelling, making sure the concept came across clearly and had that wow factor. By week four, we dove into high-fidelity wireframes and finalized the prototype.

Scenario: Setting Up a Digital Stamp Card

The owner of a wine bar has just opened her dream establishment. She learns about Stompy, an app that helps attract new customers by offering a digital solution to traditional stamp cards.

The wine bar owner has already created an account and is ready to design her first digital stamp card. Her goal is to offer a reward: a free drink after a certain number of stamps.

Hannah, our created persona for this project, wants to log back into her Stompy app. A friend mentioned that the restaurant Ernando’s is supposed to be amazing. “I’ll add it to my Top 5,” Hannah thinks to herself as she starts searching for the restaurant. But wait—what’s this? A brand-new place just opened nearby! Intrigued, Hannah decides to check it out.

Our goal was to create a sustainable app feature that combines collecting stamps, making payments, and donating—all in one seamless flow. The feature is designed to save time and make it easy for NGOs to receive donations equivalent to the reward value from Stompy stores.

Hannah uses the integrated payment system to collect Stompys while completing her payment. Her stamp card fills up, accompanied by a smooth animation. Inspired to give back, she explores the donation feature, reads about WWF, and scrolls through visuals. Excited, she donates her reward for a good cause.

During our UX research, we discovered that many stamps from cities users don’t revisit often lose their value or end up discarded. To address this, we introduced the stamp exchange feature in Stompy, allowing users to trade stamps with friends. This fosters community engagement while ensuring stamps retain their value.

Hannah is spending time with her friends and decides to review her stamp cards. From her internship at the Berlin-based second-hand store Second Chance, she collected five stamps. Wanting to surprise her friend from Berlin, she initiates a stamp exchange request using the app. Since Hannah doesn’t plan to return to Berlin anytime soon, the stamp exchange feature is the perfect solution.
